Hours Greygates is open all year round, closing only for public holidays and the Christmas to New Year period. Nursery hours are from 8.10am until 5.45pm Monday to Friday, and children may be left and collected at any times in between. Most children attend full-time, though we are happy to discuss part-time places.
Fees Please contact us for a schedule of our current fees, which are payable monthly in advance. A nominal, non-refundable administration fee is payable if you want to join our waiting list. However, this cannot guarantee your child a place, which is subject to availability. We will be glad to advise on likely availability for your child before you pay this fee.
Learning framework We encourage children’s development from the beginning via the ‘Birth to three matters’ programme initiated by Sure Start, and continue with the Foundation Stage.
Special needs We are pleased to take children who are differently abled if we can accommodate them safely. Please call us to discuss your child’s individual needs.
Illness If your child is ill or has an infectious condition other than a cold, we ask you to keep them at home for their own wellbeing and to avoid infecting other children. Should your child seem unwell or develop a temperature at the nursery, we will take steps to reduce their fever and call you to collect them. Full details of our current policies on sickness and medication are available on request.
Outings Each year we arrange nursery trips by private coach, usually to Odds Farm, the seaside at Walton-on-the-Naze and Legoland. Occasionally – with your permission – we take older children to places like the local Fire Station or the Science and Natural History museums, using public transport. There are also informal ad hoc walks – or buggy rides! – to Highgate Woods or the library in Muswell Hill.
Special events Parents are invited to join us for activities throughout the year, generally including an Easter bonnet parade; summer carnival and barbeque; International Day with foods from around the world; and a Christmas decoration-making workshop. Plus, each June we hold an action-packed nursery Open Day for past, present and future parents and children to look around and join in the fun.
"It’s a very friendly environment. No worries or pressure and everyone’s accommodating. There’s nothing I’m not happy about. I always get full feedback on Harry’s day when I pick him up."
Simbie, mother of Harry, 3
